WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – March 27, 2003 – Symark Software, the leading provider of security solutions for Global 2000 businesses that protect UNIX and Linux resources, today announced it has received official certification from the Chinese Ministry of Public Security (MPS) to distribute its software in China. The MPS has assigned the certificate number XKC30362 to Symark’s Unix Security products. Symark has successfully met the extensive requirements laid out by the various Chinese governmental organizations and joins a select few western security software companies to receive this certification.

Symark’s products are used by Global enterprises to secure mission critical applications and data from UNIX and Linux vulnerabilities, particularly from internal threats whether intentional or not. According to Gartner Research, 70% of security incidents involve insiders. The “all or nothing” security model of native UNIX and Linux provides users with too many privileges, including root privileges. Additionally, native UNIX provides weak login and password management.
